The Selection Process

We operate a rigorous selection process for gaining entry to the St. James's Place Academy programme. Starting your own business is not for the faint hearted or uncommitted. You have to be self-motivated and totally dedicated to gaining the knowledge, skills and expertise required to deliver a world class wealth management service to your clients. We will support you in this respect, however we must be reassured that this is the right course of action for you. This opportunity is only for the committed few and our selection process is specifically designed to identify these individuals.

Applicants must be aged 18 or over and, as the individual must be approved by the Financial Services Authority. All applications are subject to stringent checks.

Upon receipt of the offer of a place in the Academy, the successful applicant will be required to take and pass the ‘RO1’ exam of the Chartered Insurance Institute, entitled 'Financial services, regulation & ethics'. Passing this exam confirms that you have a good understanding of the environment in which you will be trading prior to the commencement of your training.

You must also be able to demonstrate a successful track record in your existing career or business and an entrepreneurial and self-motivated nature. In addition, to be able to demonstrate an existing network and relationships with a range of professional and business contacts will be very helpful.
